Nakia Smith

Community Activist

Nakia Smith, was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She’s a homeowner and entrepreneur. Her proudest accomplishment is being the mother of two boys. Inspired to share her love seven years ago, she became the foster parent of a family member who was born drug addicted. Exposed to many walks of life and influenced greatly by her grandmothers love as an adult Nakia made a decision to become an advocate for communities.

Nakia started her own not for profit organization called Helping Other People In Need (H.O.P-I.N.) H.O.P-I.N’s mission is to provide professional assistance in developing and implementing programs designed to meet the physical, emotional, intellectual and social needs of children and their families in the Philadelphia neighborhoods. This is Nakias way of giving back to the inner-city youth primarily those “at risk.” Knowing that education is the key to success, she decided to enroll into Strayer University College and is currently working on her Bachelors degree in Business Management/Human Resource. Nakia has taken pride in being a positive remodel for the youth and display an impeccable talent to listen and understanding of ones adversity.

Having a kind-heart and open mind she’s never quick to judge others.Through education, skills enhancement and spiritual fellowship, she will rebuild, rejuvenate and inspire all to H.O.P-I.N.
